Installing New MicroStrategy Visualizations

Out of the Box, MicroStrategy has few visualizations when comparing to other visualization specific BI platforms. Think Power BI or Tableau. One of the very cool things that MicroStrategy does allow, is for developers to create their own visualizations and there are a ton available for download. I've even made some simple visualizations using D3.js, but I'm no expert.

The MicroStrategy community is where you'll find a good number of custom visualizations available for download. They're easy to download and install. Check them out at Community.MicroStrategy.com. I didn't post a direct link as the community links tend to change frequently but just scroll to the bottom of the page and look for "Visualization Library"

At the time of writing this, there are over 40 available for download. read the description of the visualization too as some are only available for purchase.

Installation is easy. Find the visualization you want to add to your environment and download the .zip file at the bottom of the page. Then head over to your MicroStrategy administration page and select "Custom Visualizations" in left navigation bar menu.

Install new Visualizations

Click the "Upload Visualization Plug-in", browse to the zip file > click open > and you're all set!

If you don't see the visualization right away, you may need to restart your web service. Have Fun!
